Camp Hapitok, Where every child is understood.

Established in 1970, Camp Hapitok provides children from San Luis Obispo County who have speech and language disorders or who are deaf/hard of hearing, the opportunity to improve communication skills in a positive and exciting camp environment though a unique one-to-one bond with teen volunteers.

Camp  Hapitok is a rare program that gives significant opportunity for children to develop communication and social skills in the fun setting of a summer camp. In addition to daily therapy from a certificated specialist, children are paired with a teen volunteer who is matched and trained specifically for their needs. Countless opportunities for positive communication are provided through traditional camp experiences such as arts and crafts, physical education, nature walks, fishing, swimming, campfires, and group games.

2008 marks Hapitok's 38th year serving the children of San Luis Obispo County. We are proud to have been part of children, teens and adults lives for so long. We invite you to browse the Hapitok site, view photos of past years, and learn about what makes Hapitok special!
